OUTREACH

Christopher Mallett has done extensive outreach with Thomas Flippin of Duo Noire throughout New England, New York, and St. Louis. In 2009 they were awarded the Alumni Ventures Grant from Yale University to help fund their outreach tour that included concerts in Harlem, the Bronx, and several cities in Connecticut. In 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2018, Duo Noire was named an Artist-in-Residence for the St. Louis Classical Guitar Society, where they performed in nearly three-dozen outreach concerts in the St. Louis public school system. In the 2022 season, Duo Noire was invited to perform at public schools through the Cleveland Guitar Society and Austin Guitar Society. Mallett is also co-director of the Peninsula Guitar Series, whose G.O.A.L.S. (Guitar Outreach and Leadership Skills) program provides dozens of kids around the Bay Area with free virtual guitar lessons.

TESTIMONIALS

"I just wanted to thank you both again for a wonderful Duo Noire performance on Wednesday. I saw the kids yesterday who were in the first group, sixth graders. They were so excited still and enjoyed talking about it all over again. I don't think any of them had ever had the opportunity to hear anything like it. It made it so special for them to be up close and personal. I'm glad we kept the intimate setting, but sad that more kids did not have the chance to hear you. I also thought you were incredibly relaxed and easy with the kids. It was a very gentle style, punctuated with humor, and it really touched them. I would love to have you back again. Please keep in touch and keep me posted on your availability. Thanks again,"
